Please note that the selection of dogs available for adoption changes on a daily basis.
- Write down the pet identification number for reference.
- If the particular pet you are interested in already has a new home, we invite to stop and visit as new pets are ready to move into adoptions on a daily basis.
- The Shelter always has a great selection of companions (150 +/- at any given time), and the perfect one is probably waiting just for you.
- If you have visited and did not find the dog you were hoping to find, ask the customer service represenatives if the animal is still in the shelter. Sometimes, the dog has just been moved to another area in the shelter and you may still be able to meet the dog.
- The Shelter is unable to "hold" any dog for later adoption, it is stricktly on a first come first serve basis.
- While this site is updated as often as possible, please contact the shelter at (336) 297-5020 to confirm the availability of the pet you are interested in, or you can
email the Shelter. - Please refer to the intake number when inquiring about a particular animal.
- All dog adoptions include a full body check, initial vaccinations, rabies vaccinations, a heartworm test & prevenatives (or treatment if positive), flea treatment, deworming if needed, spay or neuter services, a microchip and 1 month of free pet insurance. Thanks to the grant from Bayer HealthCare, we also provide a CD for your newly adopted cat or dog. This is alot of service for the $95 adoption fee!
The Oak Hollow Mall Satelitte Location
The Guilford County Animal Shelter's satelitte location is in High Point, NC at the Oak Hollow Mall. The Adoption Center is located right beside the Mall Office. It will have a small selection of animals up for adoption on Saturday from 10:00 to 5:00 and on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00. During open hours you can call the store at 336-884-3500. This gives a chance for more exposure to our orphaned animals, increasing their potential to find their "forever" home. Our satelitte location will have it's last adoption opportunity on June 28th 2008. The doors will close permanently on June 29th, 2008.

If you are looking for a particular breed or size of dog, you may want to complete the "Perfect Pet" form, available at the customer service desk or by calling 336-297-5020. When a match is coming up for adoption you could get the call and offered the option to adopt.
